Family business Kiddimoto, which makes high quality balance bikes and kids' bike accessories, has won the Queen's Award for International Trade.
The award is part of the Queen's Awards for Enterprise, the UK's most prestigious business awards, recognising the success of UK businesses in the fields of Innovation, International Trade and Sustainable Development. Entries are judged on merit and the awards given to businesses demonstrating outstanding achievement.
Simon Booth from Somerset-based Kiddimoto says, “We're delighted with this award, which underlines all the hard work we have put into building an international business. We've only been trading since 2004 and initially poured all our efforts into designing and developing great quality products. Since 2009, we have put a big emphasis on exporting. In the last three years, our overseas sales have almost doubled and they now represent about 50 per cent of total sales.
“We're now proud to operate in 30 countries and believe we're a good example of a small company, relatively new to exporting, which is growing at a solid rate.”
