Stationery Saturday gets under way this weekend on Facebook and Twitter.
The social media campaign is being launched by the Stationery Show to generate a buzz about stationery among consumers and within the industry.
"Stationery is a dynamic and fashion-led category which inspires attachment and affection among just about everyone. It's one of the things which makes it special," says Stationery Show organiser Chris Leonard-Morgan. "The idea behind Stationery Saturday is to tap into this universal affection, and to invite people to come together to share what they like or possibly don't like about anything to do with stationery. The whole point about the campaign is not to put our opinions across, but to hear what others have to say. Who knows, we might even finish up with a consumer-generated stationery charts and Top 10!"
Dedicating one day a week - the peak shopping day - to stationery the campaign aims to find out what the burning issues are and what's hot in stationery - through the eyes of the consumer.
Stationery Saturday will give people the opportunity to talk stationery, to flaunt a picture of a favourite pen, a notebook that's been around the world with them or one they've just seen or bought, share an anecdote about a childhood stationery memory or reveal a quirky stationery story.
"Addiction to stationery is on the increase in the UK, and there's no known cure for it!" adds Chris. "The Stationery Show's presence on Twitter and Facebook is more than just a platform for stationery news, it's a forum for stationery fans. It's there to trigger discussion and debate between stationery devotees, and to chart trends."
