GA seeks 'The Next Generation' for annual Members' Day

If you're young, successful and involved in the gift and home industry The GA would like your attention please. Its 'Members' Day' and AGM which takes place on 10th June at Federation House in Birmingham, has been planned specifically to reach out to what its chief executive, Isabel Martinson is describing as 'The Next Generation in Gifts'.

“There are very many successful gift supply and gift retail businesses being run by young entrepreneurs and many of the products winning Gift of the Year awards are designed and created by upcoming stars in the industry. Our Members' Day is the perfect opportunity to bring these leaders together to debate the future of the gift and home industry and discuss what can be achieved collectively to maintain the health of this vibrant sector of the economy,” Isabel told Gift Focus.

In addition to speakers addressing such pertinent topics as Crowd Funding and Digital Marketing, with presentations already booked from The Funding Circle (a service which has been used successfully by W2 Products) and digital marketing consultancy SEO Traffic Lab, the mornings programme will conclude with a debate chaired and presented by the next generation of entrepreneurs. Participants will include Stephen Illingworth (5th generation of Widdop Bingham), Sara Allbright, John Lewis Buyer for Home and Gift Collections/Candleshop, and Steve McGuire from LSA International. We encourage others to come along and join in the debate. The debate will be live streamed online so that others can listen in and contribute via social media or watch it later.

The Members' Day is a great event for networking with the speakers, your fellow members and a range of GA service providers.

The representative from The Funding Circle will be available during the afternoon for one-to-one sessions with members looking for more detailed information on how SMEs can use the scheme, which has government backing, to raise funds to move their companies forward.

The afternoon will also see a number of workshops, discussion groups and one-to-one surgeries where members can share experiences and benefit from the experience of others across a range of hot industry topics. Amongst many others, those on hand will be lawyers from Steeles Law (to provide pertinent information on the law relating to sales agents), T.H. March (insurance and financial services), Data Strategy Consulting (to assist with analysing information from your EPOS systems), Reach Local (lead generation and conversion technology) and GA member and new National Committee member Gary Schaffer (United Oddsocks) on selling skills.

“We hope that members young and old will embrace this event, which really does promise to deliver a highly interesting and informative programme, to say nothing of being a supreme networking opportunity,” says Isabel.
