Jim Wilson, Director at Borngifted.co.uk said “It's not the first time we've seen this type of phenomenon. Last Christmas the Paddington movie left us struggling to keep up with demand – everybody who watched the film seemingly wanted to also get their hands on a Paddington cuddly!”
The school holidays are traditionally a poor trading period for many online retailers so this increase in sales undoubtedly brings a welcome boost to business over the quieter summer months.
“We're already gearing up for The Peanuts Movie, which is due for release at Christmas. Our large pre-orders of Snoopy, Woodstock and Charlie Brown are already in.”
Jim Wilson admits “We didn't predict that a blockbuster with a 12A age rating would cause such a huge upturn in dinosaur sales for younger children this summer but we were able to react quickly because we have a great supply chain. The dinosaur effect has really filtered downwards from the adult gift-givers. Our most popular lines have been the knitted dinosaur baby toys, particularly the T. Rex – customers seem to love the 'fierce yet cute' combination and they make new baby gift ideas!”
