 Green pet bowl nets awardBecobowl, an eco-friendly alternative to the everyday pet bowl, has won the Pet Innovation Award at Glee 2009. The bowls scooped top honours in the pet innovation category of the Pet Industry Awards at this year's GLEE, held at Birmingham's NEC. Made from rice husks the Becobowl is 100 per cent sustainable but also biodegradable. Makers Becothings say although the bowls break down naturally in landfill or compost heap, they are as tough as their conventional counterparts. Founder Toby Massey said: "Organic pet foods have grown substantially over the past two years and general awareness both within the industry and further afield for green products is high. Until now, there has been nothing like the Becobowl and we believe our product could make a really positive environmental impact."
