Kantha Tassel Shrug Jacket

Introducing our stunning Kantha shrugs, versatile garments that can also be worn as open jackets. Featuring a decorative tassel trim and a large side pocket, these beautiful pieces are a celebration of tradition, sustainability, and the art of recycling.

Kantha is one of the oldest and most cherished forms of embroidery, originating from the heart of India. Women from all rural classes practice this time-honoured craft, infusing each piece with their skill and passion. The name "Kantha" refers to both the unique style of running stitch and the finished work of art.

Our Kantha items are not just beautiful garments; they are a testament to sustainability and creativity. They are crafted from recycled cotton saris, which gives each piece a character of its own. You may see some small patches incorporated into the flow of the garment, these should not be considered flaws but rather a distinctive feature of the fabric. They represent the part of the journey that this fabric has already completed, a connection to the past and a renewal of its purpose.

All Kantha textiles will predominantly feature vibrant shades of oranges and yellows, owing to their unique origin from recycled cotton saris. These warm and cheerful hues are a reflection of the traditional attire favoured by Indian women, making them an integral part of Kantha designs. One size

Soapstone Mushroom

The classic fly agaric mushroom has been turned into a vibrant little ornament, hand carved from Kenyan soapstone. It's cheery character will brighten up any sideboard! Most of the worlds soapstone originates from Kisii in the western highlands of Kenya and so is home to the best soapstone artisans and carvers. The talc in soapstone is soft to touch, hence the name. Before starting work the stone must be immersed in water to make it even softer and therefore easier to work with. Using a hammer and chisel the main shape is carved out and colour then added. A smaller knife, known as a Kisu, is then used for the engraved design or illustration.

Wedding Retablo

Celebrate love’s grandeur with this hand-painted retablo featuring a joyful wedding scene: skeletal bride and groom united under a canopy of vivid floral arches, surrounded by their guests and musicians. This enchanting piece exudes mystical charm—perfect as a standout wedding gift or piece of quirky wedding decor, or great as a spirited accent during the Halloween season.

Rooted in the centuries-old Peruvian tradition of Ayacucho miniature shrines—portable wooden boxes originally used for religious storytelling—this retablo brings the wedding scene to life through vibrant folk art. Traditionally crafted with sculpted figures and detailed dioramas, retablos evolved to portray everyday life and celebrations, now lovingly hand-painted in vivid detail.
