HGA encourages members to engage with trade review

The Home & Gift Association is urging affected businesses across the home and gift sector to engage with a new Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) review that could have important implications for ceramic product sourcing, pricing and supply chains.

The review, launched on 20 July 2026, will examine the effectiveness of existing anti-dumping measures on ceramic tableware and kitchenware imported from China and assess whether current duties remain appropriate.

The investigation follows evidence identified by the TRA showing that imports of ceramic tableware and kitchenware from China increased by 22 percent between 2023 and 2025, while import values fell significantly during the same period. The Authority will now consider whether existing duties continue to offset unfair trading practices and protect UK industry.

The Home & Gift Association believes the review is relevant to a wide range of businesses throughout the sector, including importers, wholesalers, retailers, distributors, manufacturers and brand owners that source or sell ceramic products.

Gemma Sault MDat Home & Gift Association, said:"This review has the potential to impact many businesses operating within the home and gift market. Ceramic tableware and kitchenware products are a significant category for many retailers and brands, and any future changes to duty levels could influence sourcing decisions, product costs and pricing strategies.

“We encourage members to familiarise themselves with the review, consider registering with the TRA where appropriate, and ensure their voice is heard as part of the process."

The TRA has made registration forms available for businesses wishing to participate in the review, including importers, exporters, producers and other interested parties. Registered businesses will be able to receive updates, submit evidence and contribute to the investigation process.

The Home & Gift Association has confirmed that it will be registering its interest in the investigation and will monitor developments closely on behalf of its members.

As further information becomes available, the Association will:

  • Share updates and guidance with members

  • Circulate relevant surveys and consultation requests

  • Gather sector feedback

  • Highlight key deadlines and opportunities to participate

  • Support members in understanding the potential implications of the review

The Association encourages any member involved in the manufacture, import, distribution or sale of ceramic tableware and kitchenware to review the investigation and consider whether participation would be beneficial to their business.

For further updates, members should watch The Home & Gift Association's communications channels, where future developments from the TRA review will be shared as they emerge.
