Selbrae House reports record year of sales; up 40 percent year on year

Scottish gift and homeware business, Selbrae House, has recorded a record year of sales to date, up almost 40 percent on the best previous year.

Selbrae House reports record year of sales; up 40 percent year on year With a new trade website and more than 60 new products launched for its AW21 range, it is buoyant for a bumper Christmas season.Having re-focused on its core values and products, and adapted how it sells as a result of the pandemic, the family-led business has expanded its product offering and launched many on-trend products, such as bee related gifts, dog designs and new barware and drinks gift ranges.

Its new trade ordering website – www.selbraehouse.co.uk – has enabled retailers and agents to browse the product ranges and order more quickly, and at any time they choose. This is proving very popular with the company's trade customers and their agents.

To keep up with demand Selbrae House has hired eight additional shop floor staff to assist with pre-Christmas orders and additional customer service staff in the office. This will ensure all trade and consumer orders are dealt with efficiently and quickly.Selbrae has also expanded its laser etched products with four new laser machines, responding to the increasing demand for laser etched slate and wood gifts. Oak boards and paddles from its Scottish-made brand, and slate serving trays, coasters, mats and barware the company supplies as The Just Slate Company are particularly popular and make perfect Christmas gifts.

Donny Carstairs, Founder and MD of Selbrae House said, "2021 has been an incredible year for us so far. As a small family business we were able to adapt quickly to market demands and the change in buying habits when the pandemic hit which has paid off. More than ever people are buying quality, natural British made gifts which we produce. The pandemic has allowed us to invest in our products and creativity which has reaped benefits as we now have a £2.5 million+ turnover.

"With most of our products being made in Scotland or the UK, we have fortunately not experienced the same degree of supply and freight issues that other gift companies have been hit with. If this sales growth continues we aim to expand our production facilities again in the next couple of years."

Selbrae House was founded in 2006 by Donny Carstairs, along with his sister who does the illustrations and his brother who manages operations. It began with slate homewares, then expanded into sustainable wooden gifts under the brand, followed last year by The Linen Table, which produces table linen from the last traditional mill in Scotland.Selbrae House will bring in more new products and designs for its 2022 ranges.
