The GA's Sarah Ward invited to Parliament with The Genesis Initiative: Image 1 The Giftware Association has once again been invited to Parliament by The Genesis Initiative. Sarah Ward, CEO of The Giftware Association, will attend the meeting which is being hosted on 13th March at the House of Lords, alongside genesis parliamentarians and academic commentators to discuss where the UK stands two weeks before Brexit. These talks will focus on legislation in areas such as agriculture, the food sector, trade and customs and other areas particularly affecting SMEs and the home and giftware industry.

There are still questions to be asked by businesses in the home and giftware sector, and Sarah Ward will be present to represent these interests. Discussions of the day include, but are not limited to:

- Brexit state of play discussion and messages to government
- Brexit regulatory update including agriculture and transport legislation
- Relations with visiting trade missions and embassy high commissions
- Developing an access to finance breakage services to improve deal flow
- Possible U.S. trade visit to Washington
- Apprenticeships and workplace skills project

With regards to the meeting, Sarah said: “It is great for us to be at these events and to pass on the information to our members. I'm sure the mood will be very interesting around parliament, with two weeks to go before Brexit day, but we will hopefully come away with some positive and encouraging news and information.”

The Genesis Initiative was formed to improve the quality of debate on SMEs and create economic reform, driven by SMEs and supported by Parliamentarians. The senate meets at least three times during each Parliamentary session, normally in March, June and October. It involves highly professional and qualified representatives for entrepreneurs, SME academia, parliament and assemblies and other SME organisations in the UK.

The Giftware Association has put out a call for members who wish to learn more about Brexit and its impact to get in touch with them directly. More information can be found at www.ga-uk.org
