UK consumers spending more with small businesses due to social media, research reveals

New research from American Express Shop Small shows that social media has driven UK consumers to spend more with small businesses in the last 12 months.With social media being key for businesses and customers to stay connected and engaged during the pandemic, nearly three-quarters (72%) of UK adults who follow more small businesses on social media now than they did 12 months ago are spending more with them. In total, UK consumers have spent £3.7 billion with small businesses they follow on social media in the last year.

Joe Davies to exhibit at Top Drawer

Joe Davies has announced that its Equilibrium jewellery brand will be making its debut at the upcoming Top Drawer exhibition in January 2022.  This will be the first time the company has attended the event and in addition to showing its best selling ranges, the company will also be launching its new Equilibrium collections for Spring/Summer 2022, including the Gem Stone collection. You can see the Equilibrium collection on the Joe Davies stand from the 16th to 18th January 2022 at the Top Drawer show, stand 283.

Textile manufacturer Ulster Weavers relaunches as homeware brand

Northern Ireland-based textile manufacturer Ulster Weavers has announced it will relaunched a homeware brand.

The 140-year-old textile manufacturer from Northern Ireland is going through its biggest change in generations as it repositions its business as a contemporary homeware brand targeting the millennial audience.

The company, which has customers in 50 countries, is introducing new contemporary kitchen textile and homeware collections that are inspired by the places and culture of Northern Ireland as part of the major brand relaunch.

The Puppet Company signs soft toy contract with WWF-UK

The Puppet Company, the largest wholesaler of puppets and soft toys in Europe, has announced that it has signed a contract with WWF-UK as the new supplier of the soft toys sent to supporters who take out a WWF-UK animal adoption.

The Puppet Company has also announced its accreditation with the eco label Blue Angel. The Puppet Company is the only UK toy company accredited and one of only two toy companies in Europe to be awarded this certification for soft toys, which reduces impacts on the environment.

Apparel and footwear licensees on board for Care Bears collaborations

Bulldog Licensing, which manages the UK and Eire rights for Care Bears, has announced deals with Brand International for footwear and Aykroyds TDP for a collection of underwear and nightwear. Brand International is set to design an extensive range of footwear for all ages and occasions, based on the heritage bears. Product categories include slippers, footlets, flip flops, sliders, jellies, aqua shoes, trainers, wellies, fashion shoes, and back-to-school shoes.Meanwhile, Aykroyds TDP's range of underwear and nightwear, inspired by the inhabitants of the clouds of Care-A-Lot, will feature pyjamas, onesies, and dressing gowns.

Alcoholic tea brand Whistlers Storm launches limited edition gift packs following successful soft launch

Following its successful 'soft' launch at some Christmas markets in Manchester in December 2020, and its website shop launch in July this year, Birmingham-based Whistler's Storm continues to steam ahead with sales of its cold brew alcoholic tea liqueurs continuing to rise and the achievement of significant awards at the Spirits Business Liqueur Masters 2021.

Both the Assam Black and Earl Grey liqueurs achieved a Master medal in a very competitive competition with the Earl Grey going one step further to take away the accolade of the Taste Master Award (best of the whole competition).

C W Sellors launches luxury advent calendar collection

British jewellery C W Sellors has announced the launch of a new luxury advent calendar collection, featuring a Chatsworth House box. The Royal Horticultural Society and Annie Sloan, one of the world's leading authorities in paint, colour and style, have announced a partnership for decoupage papers, named the RHS with Annie Sloan Decoupage PapersA form of household decoration that simply and cost-effectively transforms a wide range of pieces in any home, these decoupage papers use designs inspired by the RHS Lindley Collections of botanical art.The Annie Sloan approach to decoupage is simple, adhering to traditional techniques whereby printed images on paper are torn or cut out and applied to a huge range of pieces, from cupboard doors to furniture and ceramics. The cut-outs are stuck down with an even coat of Image Medium (a type of glue) and then sealed with another coat.
