This year, the HKTDC Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair celebrates its 30th year this April, here's what to expect

This year, the HKTDC Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair celebrates its 30th year in a prevailing atmosphere of business optimism. A survey of 1,053 exhibitors and 1,712 buyers in HKTDC's lighting, electronics, housewares and gift trade events in April 2014 found that 90 per cent of respondents expected the market to perform better or the same as 2013, suggesting global economic recovery. The fair featured 4,136 exhibitors in 2014, who took the opportunity to make contact with 51,358 buyers from 140 countries and regions.

"It's a truly global event, offering a convenient and cost-effective way of meeting suppliers and buyers not just from Hong Kong and China but throughout the world. The fair includes seminars and briefings so delegates can keep abreast of industry trends, and there are networking events where visitors and exhibitors can catch up with their counterparts and peers," says HKTDC Director UK, Benelux and Ireland David Marsden.

HKTDC's 2014 survey revealed that environmentally friendly and advanced technology gifts are the prevailing trends. Good growth prospects were perceived for advertising gift, green gifts and tech gifts.

Results have also justified the Small-Order Zone, representing a significant market trend, with a 30 per cent increase in sales activity in 2014 compared to 2013. In line with buyer priorities, the fair offers categories in sought-after market sectors.



Green Gifts
The space to highlight your eco-credentials with products made from recycled materials or derived from sustainable resources.

iAccessories
This zone gives prominence to latest electronics products as well as accessories and gadgets related to smart phones and tablets.

Small-Order Zone
With a minimum order quantity from five to 1,000 pieces, the zone won the UFI Marketing Award 2013. At the 2014 gift fair, it featured some 400 showcases offering more than 4,000 products, and attracted over 23,000 buyer visits during the four-day period, generating around 40,000 business enquiries. It's located at the Expo Drive Entrance.

Projecting brand image
Within the fair is an elite group of well-designed, functional products housed in the Hall of Fine Designs. This concentration of excellence works well for high-recognition brands, designer collections or individual studios. In 2014, over 140 brands from 11 countries and regions were housed in the stylish setting of this special zone. Among the renowned brands that participated were Cacherel, Cerrutti 1881, Nina Ricci and Porsche Design.

World of Gift Ideas
This is the place for trend-setting products, located in Hall 1. This area highlights a huge array of trendy, top-class gift products in deluxe booths.

Luxury Gifts
This zone covers both the Jewellery Galleria for precious items and the Boutique Deluxe for lifestyle gifts such as silverware, porcelain, fountain pens and cigar boxes.

New in 2015
Beauty products and accessories are now such a draw for retailers that a new zone has been created to house them. Also you can now showcase your best outdoor gear at the Hiking and Camping Products zone and tap into the burgeoning market.

Promote yourself
The product demonstration and launch pad is the perfect platform to introduce innovative products to buyers. Furthermore, the Hong Kong Smart Gifts Design Awards 2015 could put your products centre stage. The awards recognise original design, which transforms and adds value. Winning entries are showcased at the fairground.
