Taking steps to reduce single use packaging

Taking steps to reduce single use packaging

Earth Squared is proud to have been “fabulous and fair trade” since 2001. Building a brand from scratch with the idea of creating a fair trade business that was commercially viable has taken the company on a remarkable journey. Now 18 years into the process Earth Squared is a well-recognised name in the retail sector and continues to go from strength to strength.

As customers become increasingly aware of the impact of their buying decisions it's important to provide customers with a product that has ethical provenance. Earth Squared designs of all its products (including fabrics) in-house and has worked with fair trade accredited artisans in Vietnam since it started, to bring them to life. When you buy an Earth Squared handbag there are direct benefits for the people who make them and we place considerable emphasis on long term planning so that the producers know they can rely on predictable ordering patterns. However above all, Earth Squared likes to think that its products stand out for their design, quality and value for money, with the ethical back story being a massive bonus. The company is also proud to be long standing members of BAFTS (British Fair Trade Network) who do outstanding work promoting the benefits of fair trade.

The year 2020 sees continued challenges regarding sustainability and the company is looking closely at ways it can significantly reduce its environmental impact. This includes introducing new packaging in Spring 2020 that almost eliminates single use plastics, with more actions to follow later in the year.
