Sustainability, value, innovation and the growing crossover between stationery, gifting and lifestyle are among the key trends shaping the industry, according to exhibitors at Paperworld Middle East 2026.

Sustainability is also moving from a point of differentiation to an expected part of product development. Kartik Gopal, AVP – International Business at Hindustan Pencils, says buyers are increasingly looking for responsibly sourced wood, recycled plastics and non-toxic materials, while manufacturers continue to navigate fluctuating raw material costs.
For writing instruments, design is becoming increasingly important alongside affordability. Praveen Bafna, Managing Director of Saino Pen & Plastic, says buyers are looking for products that combine quality, competitive pricing and attractive aesthetics, while also expecting greater flexibility and faster product development from suppliers.
At the same time, the traditional boundaries of stationery are continuing to evolve. Products are increasingly crossing into creativity, personalisation, gifting and lifestyle, creating new opportunities for retailers to offer stationery as more than a functional purchase.
Walter Yu, Head of Global Department at MORRIS, highlights the growing crossover between stationery, gifts and toys, with brands responding to rapidly changing consumer tastes.
This convergence is particularly relevant to the gifting sector, where premium stationery, creative products and personalised items can offer opportunities for retailers to broaden their ranges and tap into consumers' appetite for products that combine functionality with design and personality.
The trends will be showcased at the 15th edition of Paperworld Middle East, taking place at Dubai World Trade Centre from 13–15 October 2026. The event will bring together international manufacturers and suppliers across stationery, paper products, school and office supplies, art and craft, digital stationery, gifting and lifestyle products.
For buyers, the exhibition offers an opportunity to explore new ranges, compare sourcing options and discover how stationery is continuing to evolve as part of the wider gifting and lifestyle market.
