How do you keep your designs fresh and current? Do you follow trends? Zars London’s focus is to create trends. Our design ethos is to continually think outside the box. What sets you apart from your competitors? Zars London is a brand that is all about thinking outside of the box, and this led to us redesigning the necktie. To our knowledge our designed ties are a world first. We also own the design rights for our unique designs. The necktie is the ultimate accessory for your shirt or suit, but it’s limited in its construction. Zars London has changed this by using shapes to enhance the look and give a bold finish to your outfit. There is a lot said about the colour of the necktie and what it says about you. So, we thought let’s put another spin on this by adding a variety of shaped ties to your collection too. Although, you don’t need a shirt to wear one of our ties. How are you finding the current climate in the UK? Is it affecting business? For us in particularly, being a start-up with a product that did not exist before, launching during the pandemic and now with the increase in the cost of living an inflation it has been tougher to get our products noticed. How do you view the future of independent retail post-pandemic? I think people are starting to appreciate independent retailers a lot more postpandemic. A lot of people want to support small business and independent retailers and we are a nation that has awareness of suitability. Shopping local is the way forward. Are you active on social media? How is this important for the business? In this day and age, it is almost impossible to run a business without social media. To be able to connect with customers not only locally, but globally would be impossible without social media. Do you have any advice for new businesses starting out in the world of gifts? Nothing is impossible, it’s ok to do things differently, and networking is important. What can we expect in the future from the company? More great designs. We want to change the way people see and feel about accessorising with a tie. We wanted to create new styles and trends that go beyond colour and size, and give more options to our clients and the world when it comes to accessories. Anything else you want to shout about? Since we launched our online store on 1st January 2022 our brand has showcased at New York Fashion Week on 13th February 2022, and Paris Fashion Week on 28th February 2022. It has been worn by celebrity stylist Ty-Rom Mayes, Derek Blanks and Actor David Charles-Cully. All within three months of launching. We have also recently been featured in Vogue magazine. We have had really a good reaction from stylists both in the UK and USA and are working on several collaborations with them. As well as some magazines.
