That’s every year since its inception, and what makes that so special is it’s voted for by the retailers. How are you finding the current climate in the UK? Is it affecting business? We have been very lucky to have great customers and a dedicated team working in the business to support them. We are constantly innovating, and trade is good. As a business we are in the best position possible to be there for our customers’ needs, whatever the future holds. How do you view the future of independent retail post-pandemic? Independent retailers have proven themselves to be very resilient throughout the pandemic and we are lucky to have so many innovative, vibrant, hardworking people in our industry. With such diversity within independent retail, we see the future as a very bright one. Do you have any advice for new businesses starting out in the world of gifts? Always ask your suppliers for their best-selling lines, generally you’ll get a good steer what to get started with. The only other advice is to not be afraid to adopt an attitude of try, test and refine. That will see you making the most of every opportunity. What can we expect in the future from the company? We will always innovate – our new sustainable fashion brand SugarLane has just launched, and we are looking forward to seeing how that develops. In addition, we have taken on a new Head of Buying, Terry Liu, to strengthen our team and that will see developments across the whole range, it’s a very exciting time.
