12 REX LONDON LAUNCHES EU HUB IN BELGIUM Rex London has established a distribution centre in Belgium in order to better serve its customers in the European Union, without custom delays or additional costs. Customers in the EU will be able to continue ordering with all orders being imported into the EU by the new Belgian company. The company said, “Rex London is committed to providing outstanding service to every one of their customers, whether stockists carry one or one hundred Rex London products. In response to Brexit, and the teething problems that came with it for many organisations at the start of 2021, Rex London has established a distribution centre in Belgium.” Trade customers will still have access to thousands of Rex London products, which they will be able to order online or with their team of dedicated account managers in the usual way. The company said, “In fact, nothing will really change for stockists ordering from Rex London! Current delivery forecasts estimate a total transit time of up to two weeks for most EU orders, however, Rex London is investigating further measures they can take to reduce delivery times in the future.” RELIEF FOR SMALL FIRMS AS RENT MORATORIUM EXTENDED UNTIL MARCH 2022 The Government has announced that there will be an extension to the moratorium on commercial tenant evictions in England until 25 th March 2022 and mediation introduced. Discussing the news, FSB National Chair Mike Cherry said, “This announcement will be a big relief for many anxious small business tenants who have been dealing with a huge amount of disruption over the last 15 months. In many cases they were two weeks away from facing legal proceedings for rent they could not afford, for premises that have been shut. Many will have had no opportunity to raise any revenue, as they have been unable to use their premises for a prolonged period. “We’re pleased to see the moratorium will be extended for a meaningful amount of time, allowing more breathing room for small firms to embark on negotiations with their landlords, rather than worrying about it ending up in court. The clear signal from today is that landlords should now join these discussions, rather than simply waiting to launch a legal bid for 100% of rent for the whole period. “Action on encouraging negotiations about historic rent arrears between landlords and small business tenants is much needed. The next step is key, which is how the Government will design the binding mediation system for historic arrears. This ‘back-stop’ system is focused on businesses that have been forcibly closed, which does not include the supply chain. This means that the Government must move forward with the plans for £1.5bn of business rates support for this group. “We hope these changes will all help to incentivise landlords to enter into positive negotiations with their tenants.” REX LONDON CELEBRATES 40 TH ANNIVERSARY August 2021 sees Rex London celebrate its 40 th anniversary. The company began with items that the team had simply stumbled upon on their travels around the world. Before long they were on the shelves of high street institutions like Habitat and The Body Shop. For the next two decades, they continued to discover and deliver these Gifts of Random Kindness, until they decided it was time not only to choose products they liked but also to design them. From floral patterns to adorable animals, the team have loved creating colourful and playful prints that stand out and bring joy. www.rexlondon.com TOY MAKER JANOD PARTNERS WITH ANIMAL CHARITY WWF ON NEW COLLECTION French toy brand Janod has announced a collaboration with WWF, as the team unveil a new collection to inspire and engage the next generation of animal and nature lovers.
