17 NEWS & EVENTS On with the show TOP DRAWER 2020 CANCELLED; SHOW TO OFFER DIGITAL ALTERNATIVE Clarion Events has cancelled the Top Drawer 2020 physical event following the government announcement that events are not permitted in England until 1 October, 2020. Top Drawer will instead be offering visitors a virtual event, with more details to be released in the coming weeks. Show Director, Alejandra Campos, said, “Whilst we had hoped we could deliver an event for the community, safely and successfully, we have also been busy planning for such an eventuality. We are now ready to launch Top Drawer virtual, a unique digital alternative that is sure to inspire, engage and connect our community of brands and buyers. “The support of our exhibitors and visitors over the last few weeks has been incredible, and we are pleased we can provide them with the opportunity to network, forge new business and access the shared learning that they always turn to Top Drawer for.” Top Drawer’s new digital platform will offer the show’s community new opportunities to network and expand trade. Visit www.topdrawer.co.uk Trade show updates from home and abroad Footwear show Moda postponed to 2021; Hyve launches Fashion Together digital initiative Event organiser Hyve has announced that footwear show Moda has been cancelled for 2020 and will return next year alongside Spring Fair 7th-9th February 2021 alongside leading retail show Spring Fair. The decision was taken in a bid to ‘ensure that Moda retains its value, and that attendance and participation reflect the quality that Hyve’s fashion shows offer,’ according to a press release. Martin Arnold, Hyve Fashion Portfolio Director says, “After monitoring the situation we have decided that Moda will not take place for its spring/ summer edition this year. We have carefully considered hosting Moda later this year, but after speaking with our customers, we feel that this would not provide the experience that they have come to expect. However, we are excited to connect with our industry at Fashion Together and look forward to welcoming everyone to Moda in February 2021.” In its place organisers will run the virtual event, Fashion Together this September. The digital forum has been designed to unite the fashion industry and bring essential insights to audiences. According to a press release, “Recognising the importance of connecting people as a crucial part of what the shows provide, Fashion Together will provide an exclusive seminar programme and practical advice designed to educate and inform delegates. This will take place from 1 st to 2 nd September 2020 and is open to fashion brands and buyers.” The Inspired Home Show updates C O V ID-19 safety pr ocedures The International Housewares Association has begun to prepare for The Inspired Home Show 2021 and is taking steps to ensure a safe and productive return to Chicago amidst the COVID-19 outbreak. IHA, McCormick Place and the show’s vendor partners are working together on an action plan that complies with recommendations and safety procedures from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago, while also meeting the needs of the industry. According to the company, the plan is a work in progress and will adjust to meet changing conditions. Areas addressed include: McCormick Place Building Readiness, Show Management Areas, Meeting Rooms and Common Space, Show Floor, Food Service, Best Practices and Readiness for Exhibitors.
