We have always marketed our buttons as a gift item. They work well on a plate or in a bowl near the till as they are very tactile and customers enjoy rummaging through them, then putting together their own little selection, often not knowing what they will use them for but just feeling they have to have them. What are your most popular products? Most popular products are buttons and jewellery from the Heritage range which includes many timeless designs by William Morris, William de Morgan and the beautiful heritage birds from illustrations produced in the early 19th century. Another stand out range is the Warner Range which we use courtesy of the Warner Textile Archive. Have any styles taken you by surprise with their popularity? The popularity of our bespoke designs is the biggest surprise we have experienced together with the constant demand for the Warner Range, as we have to charge more for these to cover the Warner Archive royalties but it doesn’t deter our customers. How do you keep your designs fresh and current? Do you follow trends? There is always room in our ranges to follow trends as well as to constantly add to our offering which provides a stream of new discoveries for our customers to seek out. Many of our designs are timeless and constantly renew themselves within the latest fashion trends. The Strawberry Thief design by William Morris is a prime example. What sets you apart from your competitors? The quality and range of our bespoke products sets us apart from our competitors. We are constantly developing more and more bespoke ranges for the major museum shops, sometimes to run beside exhibitions and sometimes to become regular lines. We also make bespoke buttons for knitwear designers and anyone who needs something really special from images based on their own collections.
