We just love jewellery and Heath and I wanted to work together to harness both our creativity and retail experience. What prompted you to launch the business? Honestly – the need to work but to be our own boss! What challenges have you overcome since the company’s launch? The list is endless – foot & mouth, covid, recessions, huge fluctuations in the price of silver, and juggling family. Tell us about your product offering. It’s very extensive – we really do have something for everyone. We have a wide variety in styles, designs and prices but we never compromise on quality. What are your most popular products? Our Queen Bee necklace, hummingbirds and highland cows! Have any styles taken you by surprise with their popularity? Yes, and some take a while to warm up. Our really unique Stag Beetle necklace is always such fun to sell. How do you keep your designs fresh and current? Do you follow trends? We just keep on designing, trying new things, ideas are always coming into our busy little heads, some work, some don’t but that’s the fun of creating your own designs. Every day is like Christmas! What sets you apart from your competitors? Our unique designs along with affordability and level of attention to detail. What are some stand-out moments since the company launch? Getting to work with others companies, such as The Royal Ballet and the Royal Shakespeare Company. How are you finding the current climate in the UK? Is it affecting business? Yes – working harder for less seems to be the current theme but we will push on through! How do you view the future of independent retail? It’s tricky, I wish I could wave a magic wand over the high streets. Some do get it right but it can be the loss of just one store in a high street that has a huge impact on the whole feel and footfall. It’s really critical that we work together so we don’t lose more. Are you active on social media? How is this important for the business? Yes and its ever more important. But it’s still not always easy to navigate and get right – it’s a bit of a minefield! Do you have any advice for new businesses starting out in the world of gifts? Tread carefully with lots of thorough research. What can we expect in the future from the company?
