Wild Berry works very closely with fragrance developers in the US to ensure they are abreast of any forthcoming trends and launch new fragrances approximately every 18 months. What sets you apart from your competitors? Two things sets Dip and Glow apart. The first is our wonderful product, Wild Berry really is the best incense that you can buy. The fragrance and range just cannot be beaten! And the second is our dedication to customer service. We really do want to ensure that all our customers are looked after well and have a great experience when dealing with us. What are some stand-out moments since the company launch? It is difficult to highlight any stand out moments, we really are about the consistent every day experience. We frequently have calls and emails from customers thanking us for our service, whether it be turning an order round quickly, amending a mistake or recommending a fragrance. When our customers are happy, then we are too and that is what we want to achieve every day. How are you finding the current climate in the UK? Is it affecting business? Sadly, yes. Many of our customers are finding it tough at the moment. Footfall seems to be down across the board as people tighten their belts and turn to online purchases as an alternative. Wild Berry is still a great product to sell as it’s an introductory price point and brings in lots of return customers to stores. We also do have a lot of customers who are diversifying and now sell our products online as well in their traditional independent retail outlet. How do you view the future of independent retail? I very much hope that there is a future and that people continue to use their high street. I think there is an onus on independent retail to diversify, to offer an environment where the consumer wants to be, that is premium and different to the convenience of buying online. There is definitely something about a tangible product that you don’t get through an online purchase and I hope that it will always have a place. Are you active on social media? How is this important for the business? We are not and this is something that has always been on the back burner as a plan! My background is in marketing and I have specifically trained in social media, so it is a bit crazy that we haven’t launched anything yet. Watch this space!! Do you have any advice for new businesses starting out in the world of gifts? Do your research, know your customer base, find a niche but be adaptable and accepting of change and willing to diversify if required. The gift industry does not stand still so it is important to constantly evolve in order to not be left behind. What can we expect in the future from the company? Obviously the same consistent, excellent service and product range. We will be adding new fragrances and accessories to support the ever-expanding world of Wild Berry. We also want to look more at gifting bundles. Wild Berry is a wonderful product, but a large amount is bought for personal consumption and we want to develop the appeal as a more specific gift product in the future.
