12 How do you view the future of independent retail? There will always be a demand for independent retailers, if you can get your products right. A lot of people get tired with the standard offers in retail chains, and love to see shops that sell unusual, quality products which are different from the mass market. Are you active on social media? How is this important for the business? Yes, we’re active, but it takes a lot of time, and the rewards are sometimes hard to see. Do you have any advice for new businesses starting out in the world of gifts? Believe in what you’re doing! Have aims in life that go beyond just making money for yourself – if you help others, others will help you. Whether it’s your staff, your customers or your suppliers, an aim to make the world a better place, however you choose to do it, will help to make your business a success. What can we expect in the future from the company? We hope next year to have a second supplier as a Director on our Board. Appointing staff in India, as well as the two we have in Bali at the moment, and to forge even closer links with our suppliers. We want to continue to introduce exciting new ranges, using sustainable raw materials and production methods that will encourage other businesses to join us in our efforts to tackle climate change.
