SIMPLY DEVINE WINS ‘WEDDING ACCESSORIES PROVIDER OF THE YEAR’ Simply Devine Tadcaster-based hat shop has won The Wedding Accessories Provider of the Year in the English Wedding Awards 2024, for the second year running. The awards, organised by Oceanic Events, aim to celebrate the elite wedding specialists and businesses that continuously create magical moments that turn into lasting memories. Owner Liz Devine-Wright and her team attended the glittering awards ceremony in Birmingham. Liz said: “It’s such an honour for companies such as ours to be recognised in national awards. We’re a small business in a niche market, and trading conditions have not been easy for the past couple of years. We’ve survived because we are debt-free and own our own premises. We’d like to thank our loyal customers for their continued support and for taking the time to vote for us.” The awards aim to recognise and reward those within the wedding industry that work towards making the big day as perfect as possible, including the boutiques that help dress the whole bridal party, the caterers that provide delicious reception meals, decorators that take care of the wedding venues and add the glam in the room or florists that know how to make any wedding flourish. A spokesperson for the 7th English Wedding Awards 2024 said: “We’re glad to have the opportunity to celebrate the continued development of the wedding industry. “The competition was tough this year but it is time to acknowledge everyone who has shown dedication and professionalism in their workplace; two key features that make individuals and businesses stand out from the rest. “We congratulate all the finalists and winners for their remarkable achievements.” WHOLESALE JEWELLERY BURHOUSE LAUNCHES NEW ECOMMERCE SITE Wholesale jeweller Burhouse is inviting users to explore its new ecommerce site. Smart Works, a charity known for its work with women across the UK who are searching for work, trains job seekers in interview tactics as well as offering a full wardrobe service to ensure the interviewee has everything they need to succeed in the interview. In 2023, the Leeds branch has supported over 700 women in successfully applying and interviewing for jobs, in sectors from customer services to healthcare, administration, manufacturing, HR and more. Heavenly Feet has donated 25 pairs of brand new shoes to the charity for the wardrobe team to offer out to their clients. The styles include boots such as Weston and Lombardy to pair with smart work dress. Further, the business has pledged to support the charity over the coming years with future donations. Smart Works operates in regions across the UK including London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham, Newcastle, Reading and Leeds, with plans for new centres also in the pipeline. Heavenly Feet plans to make direct donations to these regional centres annually. Paul Donnelly of Heavenly Feet said: “We are honoured to be able to offer these shoes to Smart Works, a charity that does so much good in the Leeds region and nationally. “Supporting women in returning to work or finding new employment is extremely important and we are in awe of the incredible work of Smart Works Leeds. We’re looking forward to continuing our support for the charity across different regions in years to come.” Lottie Roberts, Outreach and Communications Lead at Smart Works Leeds, said: “We see on average 50 women a month in Leeds for interview preparation appointments, which means we need a lot of shoes to run our service. A new pair of shoes can make a huge difference to a woman’s confidence when she walks into a job interview. “The donation from Heavenly Feet empowers us to provide the best service to our clients. On the same day the donation came in, a client left in a pair of Heavenly Feet shoes, feeling ready and prepared to go get the job. This donation will make a huge difference to the Leeds centre, and future donations will make an impact across the charity.” For more information about Heavenly Feet, please visit: www.heavenlyfeet.co.uk 6
