35 COMPANY PROFILE post up anything on my socials about my Sprocker Spaniels it gets more likes and interaction than anything else! Maybe they’ll have to create their own dog brand in future! Do you have any advice for new businesses starting out in the world of gifts? Create designs that you love yourself – I think if you have passion behind your work and you enjoy creating the designs that will really come across in the final product. I love painting every one of my designs and that makes me excited to try it out in new products and ideas. People want to see the personality behind the work so don’t be scared to make it a little bit about you. What can we expect in the future from the company? I got some great advice once – ‘Don’t grow your business too quickly just because you feel that you should.’ Yes, I am an ambitious person and I want to see my business grow but I want it to happen naturally and at a pace I feel comfortable with. I don’t want to be at that point where I’m managing loads of staff, answering to investors and spending my entire time doing ‘business stuff’ – I want to be painting and creating, after all that’s what I love and why I started the business in the first place. My business is very much about me and I don’t want to lose that connection, but at the same time I want to grow. I want to be able to spend more time creating new designs and painting, so that means I may need to learn to delegate a little. I have a great team around me already and the more I can share the load with them the more I can spend time on the things I love. Don’t get me wrong though, we have got a lot planned for our future, from new products and designs to new outlets and new adventures. During lockdown we had a towable Shepherd’s Hut made as a bit of a pop up shop idea, so you’ll certainly see us out on the road more over the next year or so, you can keep an eye out on where we’ll be popping up on the website.
