When did you start up and why? Back in 2003 we were looking for a new challenge and bought a small fledgling business from a friend, and Heyland & Whittle was born. What prompted you to launch the business? The ethos felt right – beautiful British handmade natural products created using traditional skills. What challenges have you overcome since the company’s launch? Well, the pandemic was a big one and then of course there is the challenge of a husband and wife working together – just joking! Tell us about your product offering. We are an award-winning luxury soap and home fragrance company and are one of the largest manufacturers of cold- processed soap in England. Well known for creating beautiful natural products the traditional way, we have over the years extended our ranges from soap to bath and body and now luxury scented candles and home fragrances. What are your most popular products? Soap, soap and more soap! Customers love our fine handmade olive oil-based soaps made with only the very best natural ingredients, essential oils, herbs, spices and pure colourants like madder root and turmeric. Free from parabens and sulphates, with vegan and palm free options, our soaps enable customers to make positive eco lifestyle choices. 108
