Casting appointment Inspired by architecture and launched in lockdown, Rekha Maker is a new company by Rekha Barry, with plans for larger designs such as furniture, mirrors and lighting afoot What was the inspiration behind the launch of the brand? I have had designs in my head for modern objects for many years but have never devoted the time to testing them out. I started Rekha Maker during lockdown so I have been fortunate enough to use some of the time at home to really start developing these ideas and taking them seriously. Being an architect gives me great satisfaction, but sometimes building designs take years to come to fruition. It has been immensely enjoyable to see designs come to life with such immediacy that have been made with my own hands. While early days, have there been any defining moments as a company? The best thing that has happened so far has to be that I was asked to design the Scottish Album of the Year Award (SAY Award) by Local Heroes Design, a platform that champions design in Scotland.
