54 Progressive Greetings Live 2021’s Big Hurrah A joyful welcome awaits at PG Live this July The news that Progressive Greetings Live 2021 is going ahead as an all singing, all dancing ‘real’ exhibition in its revised dates of 27-28 July has been incredibly warmly received by retailers and greeting card publishers alike. With the exciting countdown now on, PG Live’s marketing manager, Jim Bullough shares five great reasons for buyers to visit the show. The power of greeting cards Jim says, “Brits are greeting card nuts, sending more than any other nation. And that was before the pandemic when they really came into their own as a tangible way of keeping in touch with friends, colleagues and loved ones.” Recent research findings have confirmed that the public’s appreciation of greeting cards has increased significantly over the last year, which bodes even better for PG Live. Jim continues, “Moreover, not only are cards very special products, from a commercial standpoint they offer great margins for stockists and are also known to drive footfall.” Huge variety and an abundance of newness Known the world over as having the greatest selection of greeting cards, the exhibitor line-up for PG Live 2021 will not disappoint. “Our exhibitors will range from the leading established brands right down to the brand new start-ups, all collectively sharing thousands and thousands of fresh new designs and ranges to pep up retailers’ displays and cater for the consumer pent-up demand after such lengthy periods of lockdowns,” says Jim. “What’s more the stands will be peppered with lots of show only offers and promotions to further whet a retailer’s appetite, delivering a smorgasbord of delights,” he promises. The buzz of the community “The key is in the name - PG Live really is where the greeting card community comes alive,” exclaims Jim. “Especially after a year of being couped up the buzz of banter is bound to be incredible. The relaxed feel of the show will provide an ideal opportunity for retailers to meet the people behind the brands, agents will catch up with their principals while leading trade suppliers will be sharing their developments.” The venue With its sunny airy feel and high curved ceiling, the Business Design Centre just doesn’t feel like an exhibition venue. Nestled in vibrant Islington, surrounded by lovely shops, restaurants and bars, the BDC is easy to get to. The extra touches The friendly feel of the show is all pervasive. As ever, buyers will be incredibly well looked after. The popular tea trolleys will be out in force pouring out real cuppas (in ‘proper’ cups) throughout the day while a free delicious lunch will be served to exhibitors and visitors alike. Sarah Moughtin, card buyer for John Lewis & Partners and Waitrose, “It’s in the diary! I am really looking forward to PG Live – it feels long overdue to see and speak to all our publishers old and new! It will be a key moment for us to start thinking about planning for 2022. I just can’t wait to see all the new designs.” Wendy Jones-Blackett, co-owner of Wendy Jones-Blackett, “We’re so very happy with the news that PG Live is moving to late July. You can’t replace the face-to-face! We will be there – with bells on!” PG LIVE AT A GLANCE When: Tuesday 27 July and Wednesday 28 July, 2021 Opening Times: Tues 27 July: 9.30am to 6.00pm Wed 28 July: 9.30am to 4.30pm Where: Business Design Centre, Islington, London N1 0QH To register: Registration for Progressive Greetings Live 2021, is now open.
