When did you start up and why? I launched Victoria Eggs Ltd in March 2011. The idea came whilst I was living in Sydney and drawing a teacup and saucer one day, I realised that something so simple could make you smile, tug on your heartstrings and transport you to your favourite place in a flash! What prompted you to launch the business? I had just returned from a year of working in Sydney for fashion brand Ben Sherman and had developed a portfolio of British- inspired designs. I had always wanted to run my own business and love designing so decided to take the leap and create a range of homeware and gifts, all proudly made in Britain. I soon began selling these on Spitalfields Market in London. What challenges have you overcome since the company’s launch? The most notable challenges have been since March 2020 due to COVID-19. Many of our retailers have sadly either had to shut down, or temporarily close their doors and we’ve made some huge changes to the way we work. Whilst these were not planned, we have found some silver linings including welcoming my best friend from university, Nicole, to the team and taking time to work on new designs. Tell us about your product offering. We create stylish and charming homeware and gifts, all proudly Made in Britain.
