Have any styles taken you by surprise with their popularity? We took a bit of a risk with one of our holiday collections, Winter Wonderland. It’s much more whimsical and illustrative than the core collections but was a real hit and sold out very quickly. How do you keep your designs fresh and current? Do you follow trends? We’re constantly on the look out for inspiration, looking sometimes up to two years ahead for trends in colour, pattern and style across multiple categories. We’re not totally dictated by trends though – ultimately the art that ends up on the tins is what we like, and what fits with what we stand for. What sets you apart from your competitors? We’re fortunate enough to work with some really talented artists – our ability to keep coming up with fresh, interesting artwork – and also offer such a diverse range of designs definitely sets us apart. How are you finding the current climate in the UK? Is it affecting business? It’s been tricky, especially as our product is an impulse purchase and also something based quite heavily around socialising and sharing, plus we’d only launched a few months before lockdown! It’s definitely meant it’s not the first year that we’d hoped for, but it could have been a lot worse and we’re grateful to the retailers who’ve continued to support us. Are you active on social media? How is this important for the business? We are on social media but definitely not as active as we need to be! There’s so much to learn and navigate, especially how to balance both B2B and B2C content. It’s going to be a big focus in the coming year as we try to grow the business. What can we expect in the future from the company? Early 2021 will see the launch of eight new mint tin collections, as well as some beautiful nesting storage tins. In the future, we’re hoping for more amazing artist collaborations, and will also be looking to expand into new territories.
