21 BRAND SPANKING NEW BEST KEPT SECRETS Best Kept Secrets has always aspired to create on-trend fragrances that have depth and lingering qualities to satisfy customer needs. The company has also sought a slightly quirky twist to give balance, interest and a new way to look at the fragrance market. Looking at trends is crucial to be ahead wherever possible, which means working many months ahead. Vanessa, Best Kept Secrets’ managing director, works with focus groups to anticipate trends and to steer the company when new ideas are being considered. In 2020, despite the ongoing lockdown measures, Vanessa and her team identified the beginnings of a trend towards fragranced glass candles. Whilst tin candles remain as strong as ever, it was thought there may be a developing market for candles in glass. Using contacts in three locations – Northumberland, Yorkshire & Hampshire – focus groups were set up to consider this possible direction. According to the company, “The results were illuminating. Focus Group findings did support the trend towards glass containers but with several caveats; customers wanted a more decorative glass, rather than a straight side glass, customers considered a candle tin as more of a purchase for ‘me,’ customers saw a glass candle as both a ‘gift’ and for ‘me’ and because of the ‘gift’ angle, an attractive presentational box was a pre-requisite.” With these findings suggesting an interesting new opportunity, Best Kept Secrets has embarked on a journey to a brand-new product line. Three fantastic glass containers, Entwine, Panache & Regent have been sourced and delivered and a new presentation box in navy blue and pink completes the package. The new line, launched in February, features: • Three glass designs • Twelve fragrances – Seriously Scented • Classic white wax • Sparkly toppings • Presentation box T: +44 (0)1670 512 222 E: sales@bestkeptsecrets.co.uk www.bestkeptsecrets.co.uk PINTAIL CANDLES RRP: Under £5-£12 New fragrances and a new range are stars of the show in Pintail Candle’s SS2021 collection. Named after its designer who sadly passed away in October last year, the collection is inspired by the luxury home and lifestyle K-3 brand. It features items that carry the Kintsugi mark, which is a tribute to an ancient Japanese art that invites people to repair a broken object by highlighting its scars with gold leaf instead of hiding them. This appears in the collection’s headline act – the stationery box – containing, amongst other things, two notebooks, one fine art pad, one memo pad, 12 pollen envelopes, and one calligraphy glass pen. Additionally, a wider selection of note pads, pencil cases, folders and files are also available within the range. Lawrence Savage, marketing manager at ExaClair, says the collection brings a touch of class to modern and chic interior designs, “The Kenzo Takada range has been designed to reflect and enhance luxury home environments, putting elegance and coordinated colour combinations at the forefront. “The sad passing of Kenzo Takada makes his collection all the more special and symbolises the boundless creativity and relentless passion for design for which he will be remembered.” www.exaclair.co.uk MOSNEY MILL Mosney Mill is a beautiful range of kitchen, homeware, stationery and home fragrances taken from the illustrations of Lancashire-based artist Emma Sutton.
