132 What prompted you to launch the business? I took the opportunity to plough my own furrow after gaining valid experience from my two previous employers. I wanted to chance my opportunity at success having seen others around me thrive. What challenges have you overcome since the company’s launch? I have been a one-man band ever since I started the business, managing all aspects from the accounts, buying and of course selling. Juggling all of this as well as having a large family of four children comes with its own challenges. I feel very grateful now to have kept the business within the family, with my daughter Annabelle joining officially two years ago. Tell us about your product offering. For the last 30 years I have been curating a collection of unique designs from across the world. We have a large product line up of around 2000 sterling silver pieces, which cater to many different tastes and price ranges. Fostering relationships with suppliers and a strong commercial eye has been key to our success thus far. We now have a long-standing connection with various Israeli producers, showcasing a true diversity of artistic flair and design. These being Hagit Gorali a renowned Israeli designer with whom we started with at the beginning, Saphirim Rahav a Kibbutz run, artisanal manufacturer and Bat Ami which specialises in the art of Electroform. What are your most popular products? Some of the quirky designs from Israel are well received by many customers. Equally there are many more standard designs that we feature in often repeated orders from customers. These feature contemporary earrings and pendants sets with polish and matt finish, as well as a fantastic range of hoops from Italy to Mexico. Have any styles taken you by surprise with their popularity? We have a niche range of silver animal and novelty brooches, which have been more popular than expected with all shops. They are made by Saphirim one of our Israeli manufacturers, and customers who don’t buy the rest of that range still buy them. Overall brooches are not best sellers, however, our range manages to buck that trend, whether you want to showcase a mini Dachshund (our most popular design) or a Gold-plated sunflower there really is a charming design for everyone.
