Gift Focus inc Attire Accessories - July/August 2020

88 How would you describe your customer base? Our customer base is a mix from aged 16 – 45. The ethos of the Five And Dime brand was to be as inclusive as possible without losing it’s identity. How do you try to get involved in the local community? We promote and support local art events, support local charities and also get involved with late night openings with other independents at Christmas. Our pink popcorn is super popular and not forgetting the mulled wine. We offer free local delivery and people know that they can come and shop or just pop in for a chat, whatever they need. With Brexit then COVID-19, high street retail is having a tough time. How is Five & Dime currently weathering the coronavirus storm? COVID-19 has been more of a curveball than Brexit in all honesty, we’ve had to adapt what we would usually buy this time of year and bring forward a few ideas we had planned, being young as a business and constantly reviewing how we operate has enabled us to adapt quickly. Do you have any tips for those looking to start their own retail venture, post coronavirus? This is a hard question, we would say be adaptable, be open minded and try different things. Never be afraid of making a mistake as long as you learn for it. Be humble and be grateful but never lose your drive. Find out more at www.fiveanddime-interiors.com
