Gift Focus - Jul/Aug 2019 (Issue 114)

18 GLEE TO INTRODUCE HOME & GIFT VILLAGE AT 2019 SHOW Gifts, homeware and outdoor clothing are becoming increasingly big business within garden retail. These product categories give retailers the opportunity to maximise sales and can be useful for driving impulse sales as consumers look to add stylish accessories to their homes and gardens. Recognising this trend, Glee has introduced the new Home & Gift Village to its 2019 show, designed to help niche suppliers, start-up brands and smaller companies better showcase products to Glee’s 7,000-plus annual visitors. The new show area will provide home and gift suppliers with an opportunity to participate in the show as part of a larger group. Offering exclusive exhibition packages, exhibitors within the Home & Gift Village will be able to take advantage of an enhanced shell stand exhibition space, a listing within the Glee website and space in the show’s catalogue. The Home & Gift Village will be located near to the Retail Lab, and it is predicted that will increase buyer footfall. The Village has been designed to complement the wider presence of home, gift and clothing exhibitors at Glee. Exhibitors will offer core ranges as well as added-value product lines such as clothing, picnicware, seasonal decorations, games, toys and books. Exhibitors include: Apac Group, Allsorted, Cheeky Rascals, Earth Squared, Hills Interiors, Nova Leathers (Bristol) Ltd, Price’s Patent Candles, The Great British Card Company, Tilnar Art and Troop London (UK). Space within the Home & Gift Village will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Pantone marketing director Abigail Bruce explained: “The sea covers 70 per cent of Earth’s surface but while it is vast, its size and surface area doesn’t overwhelm us. Instead, we find ourselves inspired by its beauty and in awe of its powers. The sea captivates our imaginations. That’s not all, though. The sea is deep and mysterious – almost like another world. But while it might seem alien in some ways, it’s familiar and comforting in others. We go to the sea with our friends and families, to socialise and relax, and we find this time refreshing, healing and restorative.” The PANTONE Colour of the Year selection process is a culmination of the macro-level colour trend forecasting that the Pantone Color Institute conducts through the year. The choices the institute makes inform a number of other trend forecasting products. To arrive at this selection every year, the global team looks for colour influences worldwide. This can include the entertainment industry and films in production, travelling art collections and new artists, fashion, all areas of design, popular travel destinations and lifestyles, playstyles and socio-economic conditions. The colour selections for each year cross all areas of design and serve as an expression of a mood and attitude. Pure London will host Pantone colour-themed catwalk scenes on the main stage. The show will bring together a community of more than 700 women’s and menswear brands and designers, offering ready-to-wear, premium and trend-led colelctions of footwear, accessories and more. There’s also a host of ethical and sustainable fashion and accessories under the Pure Conscious banner. Visitors will also be able to access three days of educational content with keynote talks from industry leaders.
