125 IHGF DELHI FAIR Handmade in India We take a look overseas at what’s on offer at IHGF Delhi Fai Established to connect some of India’s leading manufacturers for home, lifestyle, fashion and textile products to the wider world, IHGF’s 48 th autumn edition will bring together more than 3,000 exhibitors. More than 2,000 products and 300 trend- specific design developments across 14 display segments will define the show, making the five-day trade appointment a resource for importers, wholesalers, retail chains and design professionals. This year’s event will see significant expansion in all categories with an assortment of new, diverse creations employing a variety of processes and materials. Woodcrafts, textiles, furniture, accessories, glassware, fashion jewellery, ceramics and much more will be on display. Much of the show will focus on home textiles, furniture and interior accessories. A blend of contemporary styles, regional nuances and the practiced weaving traditions of India will be available, with handloom and power loom works. Natural and manmade fibres are employed, with dyeing, printing, embroidery and hand-painting options available in design-led crafts. Carpets, rugs and flooring manufactured in more than 12 craft clusters spread over eight states will be brought together. Trends in furniture and accessories will be expressed in the mix of natural and inorganic materials, combining to create new and interesting pieces. In the Houseware, Gifts & Decorative sector, an extensive mix of customised and distinctive decorative options and collectibles feature alongside an eclectic range of modern and unusual high-end lines, with an emphasis on material, design and value addition. Theme Pavilions and representations of regional expertise will give buyers the opportunity to source directly from artisans and new entrepreneurs along with established exporters from these provinces. The Designers Forum, a new addition at this fair, will present collections from a curated selection of established and upcoming Indian designers. The show boasts buyers from more than 110 countries. Visitors will also be able to access the 900 permanent showrooms in the India Expo Centre & Mart, spaced out on four levels. The show aims to provide a cross section of varied and versatile craft skills, as well as a wide selection of raw materials and manufacturers bringing contemporary influences and trend-specific developments to fit all price points. The show’s strength is in the balance of between the size, the quality of the display and the number of buyers. Visitors can also take advantage of show events including trend forecasts, panel discussions, seminars and awards, giving the IHGF Delhi Fair a multi-faceted offering for buyers as well as exhibitors. IHGF Delhi Fair is organised by the Expert Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), a body representing handicraft manufacturers and exporters in India.
