The London Studio has been named one of the UK's Top 100 Businesses in the Smarta 100 Awards 2012.
London born Soula Zavacopoulos set up The London Studio in 2009 from her living room. Just three years on, her design studio is one of the Top 100 businesses in the UK today.
Her designs adorn greeting cards, giftware, tableware, home products, stationery, apparel and more. The London Studio manufactures and sells the products direct to retail, or in some cases will license Soula's award winning designs direct to retailers and manufacturers.
Her designs can be found in retailers including: TESCO, WHSmith, Selfridges, Fenwick, Bentalls, Paperchase, Ryman, Amazon.co.uk, Funky Pigeon and M&S. Across the globe The London Studio is reaching audiences through direct-to-retail sales and licensing deals, such as with American Greetings (Recycled Paper Greetings) for greeting cards.
The judging panel included the likes of Theo Paphitis (Ryman, Boux Avenue, Robert Dyas and Dragons' Den), Ben Dowd (O2 UK), Thea Green (Nails Inc) and Mike Soutar (ShortList Media).
In Smarta 100, companies who have received £13 million of venture capital, have celebrity clients or are made up of large teams, stand shoulder-to-shoulder with one-person start-ups like The London Studio, a one-woman business who is fast becoming one to watch in the design industry. Like two thirds of Smarta 100 winners, The London Studio is self-funded and is proof that even single-handedly, being innovative and having creative ideas can give you the edge to succeed against all odds.
