After more than 20 years of building a successful publishing house, specialising in British gift books for the museum and heritage market reminding readers of afternoon tea and good manners, Copper Beech Managing Director, Jan Barnes, has decided to retire this summer.
“The range of Copper Beech books has expanded to more than 50 titles over the past two decades,” explains Jan. “They've reflected my passion for social history and the popularity of film and television dramas such as Downton Abbey and Upstairs Downstairs have only increased their success on the bookstalls.”
Although the company's back catalogue is dominated by many titles about afternoon tea and also the social rules of historical Upstairs Downstairs life, they have also covered numerous other subjects as diverse as the early years of motoring, parlour games and even help with housework for the servantless.
