Gift Focus - Jul/Aug 2018 (Issue 108)

source of new designs is through licensing and includes The Macneil Studio, Jennifer Rose Naylor and Hearts Designs, to name a few. What’s your most popular collection? Currently, a really popular range is the Mad Dots Collection by Heart Designs, which encompasses baby and wedding gifts, jewellery, a range of bracelets carrying messages for mum, grandma, nan and a fabulous friend as well as with Sparkle and Dreams. Kitchenware and ceramics produced with illustrations under the licence from The Macneil Studio are also popular, as well as the new William Morris Strawberry Thief White, which includes fine chinaware mugs, tea for one, melamine trays, lunch bags, coasters and placemats while also diversifying into fashion accessories such as handbags, a cosmetic bag and a wash bag. Bespoke items have also grown as clients seek their own designs to be produced by us, as expertise avoids expensive mistakes – from concept to finished item, there is assured quality. The giftware retailer developed, and we assisted in presenting ever-changing gift packages for the consumer, meeting the demands for something that was affordable but of the utmost quality with eye-catching point-of-sale material to accompany ranges. In the past two or three years, some of the company’s most popular ranges have been those that appeal to a younger customer base. On-trend designs featuring flamingos, unicorns, mermaids and, most recently, llamas have been hugely popular. What has been happening with the business this year? This year has already welcomed the sales executive appointments of Edd Cannan for the Midlands and Wales, and Matt Slade for the southern part of the country, covering the Home Counties and London. Also, Jonny Greves is now part of the product development and buying team after having worked in the giftware trade so he is appreciative of the consumer’s desires. We are supplying the ever-changing demands of consumerism with exciting merchandise to encapsulate fashion and interior trends whilst maintaining quality and affordability. Do you visit trade shows? Which ones, and how are these important for the business? We have been exhibiting at trade shows all over the world since the beginning of Lesser & Pavey. We were an exhibitor at the first Spring Fair and continue to have a large stand to display our full range at all major international events during the year in the UK and overseas. What can we expect in the future from Lesser & Pavey? In spite of the current challenging economic climate, the business continues to thrive, driven by a changing product range and a dedicated, hardworking and multi-talented team. The business continues to advertise extensively and, more increasingly, via all the most popular social media – all very important to help keep the company in the forefront of the trade and the public. Buyers can expect more of the same from Lesser & Pavey in the immediate future: new innovative on-trend gift and homewares ranges offering great quality at incomparable prices.
