This piece is a genuine 100 per cent bronze cast in the foundry using the lost wax technique (also called cire-perdue), where the final mould used in the metal casting has been created using a wax model. Once the mould is complete it’s heated so the wax model melts and drains away, hence the name ‘lost wax’. The lost wax process is essentially the same as it was in the bronze ages with a few refinements. The bronze is created through many labour- intensive steps, which make these high value items sort after. These heavyweight pieces have incredible detail and most sit on a solid marble base. The range includes Art Deco/ Noveau figurines, fairies and wildlife studies. Across all ranges JJ Vaillant will be exhibiting more than 100 new items at Spring Fair for the first time.
