Gift Focus - Nov/Dec 2017 (Issue 104)

Formex started in 1960 and is held twice a year, in the beginning of January and at the end of August. The show boasts more than 900 exhibitors per fair with products within interior design, fashion and accessories to name a few sectors. The fair brings together national and international buyers, agents, designers, producers and media from all over the interior design and gifts industry. Each fair welcomes more than 20,000 visitors and about 800 media representatives. Besides the opportunity to do business, Formex gives visitors information about trends, inspiration and knowledge in the form of exhibitions and lectures. Formex Formidable The Formex interior design fair is the venue of choice for the best in Nordic home and interior design. That’s why Formex offers its own prestigious design award that showcases the best contemporary design. The prize was established in 1994 to inspire and encourage excellent design. A jury both selects the nominees and awards the winner. The fair also gathers feedback from the general public – the People’s Choice – on the Formex website. The 2017 jury consists of Synnöve Mork, textile designer; Dan Gordan, journalist; Kerstin Wickman, professor in the history of applied arts; Kajsa Falck-Torlegård from Formex; and a special guest jury member Daniel Svahn, designer. To be nominated, the product must have been exhibited at Formex in the spring or fall of 2017. The product must be new for the year, and the jury judges its design and aesthetic qualities with regard to materials and production. The winner will be announced at the upcoming Formex Fair, January 2018. Formex pop-up shop What do you like the most at the fair? You might be able to buy this product and bring it home with you. Formex has, together with Trendstefan, opened up a temporary shop with only the latest products launched at the fair. You’ll be able to purchase the newest interior details, which are launched that week. In the pop-up shop hundreds of items are displayed like a vase by a recently graduated designer or the latest design gadgets from Europe. Young Designers sector Young Designers accepts applications from designers whose products are not yet in production with an established company. In each area, the same designer can exhibit three times but must have new products to show. Next to Young Designers is Next Step, which is an area dedicated to exhibitors who have progressed a bit further in their establishment phase. g fabulous formex Visit Stockholm this January for the largest meeting place for Nordic interior design For further information, visit the website formex.se IN BRIEF Show Formex Organiser Stockholm International Fairs Where Stockholmsmässan, Sweden When 17 th - 20 th January, 2018 Website formex.se Twitter @Formex giftfocus 83 formex
